There are so many options for making your ceiling eye-catching. A good craftsman can design and create anything you can imagine. Here are a few techniques I love to show my clients when proposing a ceiling facelift.
1. Timber Arched Tresses
Reminiscent of the architecture from the great gothic cathedrals, this ceiling brings light and openness into this seating area. The timber arched trusses compliment the outdoor landscape, while the large windows really create a statement. Mortise and tenon joinery along with wooden pegs have proven to withstand the test of time.
2. Tray Ceiling
This detailed tray ceiling is finished with painted shiplap boards. By bringing the framing up, the room feels more open and gives the illusion of a much larger space. What a beautiful light, elegant bedroom.
3. Custom Woodwork + Paint
A bold paint color goes a long way. The saturated blue gives this room from Nuevo Estilo energy and style, without being overwhelming.
4. Classic Coffered with Copper Details
This classic coffered ceiling with inlaid pressed copper panels, is surrounded with Mahogany crown moulding and trim details. Quality craftsmanship gives this room a very rich and majestic feeling.
5. Reclaimed Wood Beams
Restoring this 1790 Carriage House was such a creative project for me. I let the original beams in this home shine through. Additional beams were then added to carry the lighting fixtures over the dining room table and kitchen island. I used traditional mortise and tenon joinery to install these beams. This ceiling became the focal point of this stunning home.
Whatever your taste, the ceiling in your home should not be ignored. From a simple cathedral to an intricate wood lined ceiling, let your imagination soar!
